Introduction
In 2022 delegates from both the NCVLGA and the NCLGA met to discuss a merger between the two associations. Subsequently, it was agreed that the merger should go ahead and the 2022 NCLGA AGM agreed to the election of a Senior Organiser to the NCLGA Executive Committee.
As 2023 would be a year of transition, whilst the NCVLGA competitions and matches were amalgamated into the NCLGA fixture structure, it was agreed that the current NCVLGA officers (Barbara Rampley, Anne Woolley, and Lin Tongue) should represent them at the NCLGA executive meetings until the 2023 AGM, when one person would be elected to the NCLGA Executive as Senior Organiser. Anne Woolley has now been voted into this position.
Competitions
Since the venue for the Vets Spring Meeting, which is a 4BBB competition, had already been booked, it continued as planned for 2023 and has been included with the NCLGA competitions, to be entered via the website for 2024.
The NCLGA already have a Veteran’s Trophy alongside their Summer Meeting, so it was agreed to add a Veteran’s Cup to the NCLGA Autumn Meeting, to replace the Vets Autumn Meeting, which was played in the same format.
We encourage all NCVLGA members to consider entering any NCLGA competitions they can.
Matches
Matches for Seniors have been arranged with Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire and our preference is for 4 Ball Better Ball Matchplay alternating annually home, or away with a team of 10 players. The matches against Lincolnshire and Leicestershire will have five matches, 2 played off scratch and the other 3 off handicap. The matches against Derbyshire will all be played off handicap. Ideally Handicap Index limits for the scratch matches will be 14.0 and 36.0 for the handicap matches.
Anyone interested in playing in these matches going forward will be added to the senior squad on the new website and will be asked to indicate their availability for the matches. Teams will then be selected after the deadline for indicating availability.
Finances
The transferred NCVLGA funds have been ring-fenced for the use of the Senior Section.
