Scratch and Handicap Teams play Leicestershire and Rutland in new format

A first for MNR matches, both the scratch and the handicap teams played on the same day, great to see the squad in action!

Nottinghamshire Handicap Match vs Leicestershire and Rutland - 8th June 2025 at Radcliffe-on-Trent GC

Another sunny day for the handicap team at Radcliffe-on-Trent GC, taking on a new Leicestershire and Rutland team containing a few rookies, Nottinghamshire gave a massive 88 shots in the 5 games and although playing very well and to handicap, the number of shots proved too difficult for the first three resilient Notts players of Emily, Olivia and Erika.  Sancha had a great game against Jade and won her match and Sofia took hers to the wire, battling a sudden and cold rain shower for a few holes, finishing her game on 18 with a win.  A great display of determination shown from all the Notts players in a difficult match.   Well done team!

Scratch Team Match vs Leicestershire and Rutland - 8th June 2025 at Radcliffe-on-Trent GC

The scratch team were ready for battle at our home fixture vs Leicestershire & Rutland.  Amelia Hothersall led in the first match, battling an in form Emily Wolverson, but having a great game managing to win the match 3 & 1,  Captain Maddison Clarke had a tough and close match against Lucy Wheeler, with neither girls giving ground and a half on 18.  The final singles match was Millie Browne against Henrietta Geddes, Millie captured a 2 & 1 win for Notts.  The foursomes pairing was Mya Neal and Ellie Wang, Ellie was playing in her first match for Nottinghamshire, what a way to start as the pairing won 3 & 2.  The Notts Scratch team finished with a 3 1/2 win.  Well done team.  The scratch team have now won 2 and halved two matches, so all eyes are on the results of the other county matches to determine the MNR league standings.  Unfortunately as Staffordshire have been unable to field a team this year, the scratch team have now completed all their matches, with the remaining counties still to play at Branston Golf and Country Club in August.
