Well what a start to the 2025 season, the junior girls have been very busy competing all over the country. Here is a roundup from some of the girls.
English Girls squad player, Elizabeth Wilson has had a very successful start to the year with 6th place at the Scottish Girls U18 Championships at Arbroath. She came 1st in the Nottinghamshire Schools Championship, not only winning the girls competition, but also scoring the lowest gross score of the day in the mixed competition. In the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open Championship at Royal Troon, Lizzie came 5th and along with Ellie Monk won the Nations Cup for England. Just last weekend Lizzie added to her impressive start to the season winning the Girls Fairhaven Trophy, beating fellow England Girls Squad player Lauren Crump in a playoff.
Millie Marsh who is currently in the England Golf Regional Squad has also had an impressive start to the year, with 35th out of 80 in the R&A U16 Amateur Championship @ Gog Magog, also coming 2nd out of all the U15 British Girls. Millie had success at the Nottinghamshire Schools Championship with a fantastic 1st place in the U16 category and 2nd place in the U18’s, also ranking 3rd overall in the mixed boys and girls. As a result she now qualifies for the U16 National Schools Girls Championships in May. She continued her excellent form by winning the Nottinghamshire Junior Girls Championships at Beeston Fields Golf Club.
Millie Browne has worked hard during the winter and is showing great progress this year starting the season by winning the Girls nett competition in the Hollinwell Junior Open. She has qualified for the U16 National Schools Girls Championships and has broken 80 for the first time. On the Robert Rock Junior Tour she came 1st gross at Frilford Heath.
Ellie Wang our new and young junior has had a great start to the year, coming 1st in the U12 competition in the British Junior Golf Tour at Thetford GC. She has also achieved 1st place at MacDonald Hill Valley in the U12 category, playing 3 days of 18 hole competition for the first time. She played in the U18 Nottinghamshire Schools Golf tournament at Norwood Park, coming 2nd in the nett competition and an impressive 10th in the mixed boys and girl’s leaderboard. In the Nottinghamshire Junior Girls Championship Ellie won the Nett U14 trophy, coming 3rd overall in the U18 gross leaderboard.
Erika Lee won the Nottinghamshire Schools Nett competition and is rapidly reducing her handicap this year.
Matches start next week, but what a start to our season, Nottinghamshire is clearly on the map at all levels. There will have been many other successes and my apologies to those who didn’t appear in the report this month. Please make sure you send me reports of your successes for the May edition (with photo’s)!
