A sunny and successful start to the season with our annual friendly fixture against The Sheffield Union on Monday 7th April 2025.
Sheffield's experienced team offered a strong challenge but our leading three pairs of Ellen Sanderson & Lesley Morris, Caron Harrison & Hailey Laverty and Charlie Inger & Danielle Wilbraham secured our 3/2 victory with some fine golf and excellent wins overall. Special mention must also go to our final two pairings with two of our junior golfers, Junior Captain Maddison Clarke and her partner Amelia Hothersall staging a great fightback on the back nine to get so close to halving their match. They were five down early in the back nine and showed great determination to get back into the match and take it to the final putt on the 18th. Our final pairing, Loraine Howd and Bev Cook also had a close match but eventually lost on the 16th.
Special thanks to Bev who had stepped in due to a late and unavoidable withdrawal especially as she is only just back on the course after suffering a knee injury. Well done to everyone and thanks also to Rushcliffe Golf Club for hosting the match this year. Next year's match will be an away fixture and will be at The Hallamshire GC.
