Dear Members
I hope that you are getting back into the swing of things at your golf clubs, the weather is certainly being quite kind to us at the moment. I thought with the upcoming season upon us, it would be a good opportunity to update you on the spaces that are available in our competitions:
The Girls’ Championships takes place at Beeston on the 4th May and is open to girls of eighteen and under. This is an 18-hole medal competition. The Intermediate Championships which runs alongside this has had a change to it's qualifying criteria this year, so now is open to ladies between 18 and 49 with Handicap Indexes up to 36.0.
The County Championships (a handicap limit of 20.4 applies) is at Worksop this year is a competition for our super keen members. It is played as a 36-hole medal followed by match play. There are still spaces available in these competitions. But for those of us who don’t play to this level (well only in our dreams), if you have free time on May the 10th and the 11th and are able to, come along and watch the match play stages, the golf is fabulous!
There are plenty of spaces in all the individual competitions such as the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings being played at Worksop, Rushcliffe and Norwood Park, respectively. A good opportunity to meet and play with ladies from other clubs on some genuinely nice courses. These are all now played as stablefords.
The Coronation Cups is at Chilwell Manor and the Spring Vets Meeting takes place at Ruddington Grange. These are pairs better ball competitions and still have spaces.
The County Waltz is now full but The Nottinghamshire have indicated that there could be additional tees if required, so if you were thinking about it, do contact me. There is a meal after this event.
County Captain’s Day and Alternative County Captain’s Day are at Wollaton Park. President’s Day is at Sherwood Forest, all popular Am-Am competitions which currently have some spaces left. These are also very sociable events and there is a meal served on a rolling basis after the golf.
Do have a go and enter – we would love to see you!
Have a Happy Golfing year!
