Summer Meeting & Veteran's Trophy
The County Summer Meeting and Veteran's Trophy was held on Monday 1st July at Radcliffe on Trent Golf Club. Who would have thought it was July! It could have been called the Autumn meeting by the end of the competition, it was cool, windy and raining.
Radcliffe made us welcome as always, many thanks to Glynis Armstrong who made the beautiful flower arrangement. It looked divine.
Only 30 players entered the competition, which was a shame, it makes me wonder if ladies know anyone can enter these opens! They really are fully inclusive and the County welcome everyone, it’s a great way to meet other golfers.
Radcliffe on Trent course struggled with the weather through winter but no one would know looking at the course now, it was in great condition and the greens were tricky. Well done Greenkeepers.
Congratulations to our winners, Carol Houghton (Sherwood) who had the best 18 hole Gross Stableford score to take the Jubilee Bowl Scratch Cup and the Gill Shawcross Trophy (50+); Jean Stones (Coxmoor) who had the best 18 hole Stableford Score and won the Jubilee Bowl Handicap Cup and the Dutchess of Portland Challenge Cup (50+); and Carol Bowles (Ruddington) who won the Dorothy Payne Cup (70+).
